TAWAU, Deputy Chairman for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjong, Chong Hon Vun opened his house during the Chinese New Year with family and friends attended the event. PBS, with it's multiracial members continues to celebrate each such events to enhance friendship and promoting unity not only among their members but also among the community.

TAWAU, The problems faced by the district’s Tanjong market could all be rectified as the local authorities require to submit proposal to the Ministry of Local Government over the matter.
Assistant Minister of the Local Government Ministry Datuk Edward Yong Oi Fah after completing his visit to the market recently in a working visit withDatuk Dr. Yee Moh Chai, Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology stated that all the problems which are minor in manner can be repaired speedily and satisfy hawkers and customers.
`Minor problem as seen such as few burn out lights can be easily replaced but delay in making such rectification has caused unhappy Malaysian’, he explained.
Yong added that such replacement which only cost a small amount of money but was not done while other matter highlighted on cleanliness on the market which boils down to the management of the market’s responsibility.
`But Tawau Municipal Council also has to be responsible over these problems’, he stated citing that a sufficiently pro-active council could have easily be handled.
He stressed that local authorities are the front line defend of the government and they people would be happy if they (Local Authorities) could perform their duties well.
Yong said it is his hope that the management currently handling the market will have a different working ethic with the changing of the district’s Municipal Council and future minor problems will be a thing of the past.
He urges hawkers or the public to lodge their dissatisfaction through the council or the Party Bersatu Sabah (PBS) PKR office as he saw all the problems could be rectified by the government.
`Unlike opposition parties which could only highlight the matter but could not rectify the shortcomings unless they bare the cost of the needed work’, he added.
At the same time, Yong also urges hawkers conducting their businesses there to park their vehicles elsewhere as the insufficient parking lots located around the market could then be used by costumers and bringing better economy gain to the hawkers themselves.
At the same time he agreed that the parking lot is not sufficient in number, Yong advise the public with ideas on how to solve the parking problem to come forward to the local council to share their ideas.
He also pledge that Sri Tanjong’s PKR unit will conduct more visit to the market for inspection as a measure to speedily solve any minor problems faced.
Among those accompanying Yee during his visit to the district were Deputy Speaker, Johnny Mositon, Datuk Jahid Jahin, the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sport Sabah, State Assemblyman for Inanam YB Johnny Goh Chin Lok as well as a number of PBS’s EXCO members.
The market has been the issue used by opposition parties in undermining the management of the government.

TAWAU, The support from members of the public toward Barisan Nasional (BN) is still very much alive and there is no reason why the ruling government could not recapture the Sri Tanjong seat in the coming next election.
The vice president of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Dr. Yee Moh Chai said this on the seat which was lost by PBS to an opposition party in the last election.
He explained that one of the cause of the lost was the `swing’ nationally and Sri Tanjong felt the blunt of the swing but cited that there is no reason why BN could not recapture back giving the fact that PBS with the help from the other component parties has been serving the people there.
`But we need to readjust ourselves and understand better on why we didn’t get the full support of the voters there’, he added.
Yee said PBS has once being the opposition for almost a decade but has now moved with the ranks within the government and they know how the people feel and think and can satisfy the voters’ need but within the framework of serving the people as members of the government.
`Our present leadership at Sri Tanjong are working hard and closely with the grassroots and we knows what is required but changes takes time for changes for demands and requests to satisfy the people’, he stressed over the party in Sri Tanjong under the leadership of Fung Len Fui.
Yee explained they had done the needed post mortem over the failure to defend the seat and had set the objective in improving oneself in all constituencies including Sri Tanjong.
`This is the fight PBS has been fighting for, our basis to serve the people as this is the status and this status is our responsibility and we are fully aware of it’, he added.
Yee concluded that the interest of the people will continue to be preserved and protected.
He was in the district last Friday to visit hawkers at Tanjong market and Xin Ann market where he and his entourage received a warm response where a number of problems were also highlighted to him.
Yee also visited the district’s Hot Spring Old Folks’ Home where he distributed ang pows and oranges to 36 residents there.
Among those present during the visit were a number of PBS state leaders and deputy ministers.

: District Water Department require public info to speed up repair
TAWAU, The district Water Department will immediately rectify any shortcoming in matter of delivering fresh water to consumers and require the support from the general public in making the work done speedily.
It’s district’s chief engineer, Baharin Antonio said this in a meeting with Parti Bersatu Sabah PBS) PKR for Sri Tanjong, Fung Len Fui, his assistant Lee Sie Yin and deputy chairman of PBS Sri Tanjong, Chong Hon Vun yesterday.
Bahrin said they are constantly looking for problems such as burst piping as there are still a number of water pipes that existed for tens of years in the district and the additional water pressure added to supply the growing number of residents here can cause such old pipes to burst.
He cited the current problem of fresh water not reaching the Daya Usaha housing estate, the Hot Spring market and the Hot Spring Senior Citizens’ Home was caused by such an event and work is being done to repair the burst pipe.
`Public can contact us upon witnessing any burst piping and we will immediately do the necessary repair’, Bahrin explained.
Fung raised the matter to Bahrin in the meeting citing no water had reach the consumers there for days and seek co-operation from the department in repairing the matter.
At the same time, Fung also urge the department not to cut water supply especially in the coming Chinese New Year celebration as this has happened before in the past causing much dissatisfaction among consumers.

TAWAU, The effort to recapture the State Assembly seat of Sri Tanjong is an aim which is essential for the return of the area to Barisan Nasional (BN).
Fung Len Fui, the PKR of Sri Tanjong for the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) said this matter is important as it would continue to strengthen the state of BN in Sabah and to bring continuing development which is greatly needed in the area.
Fung, in a dinner event recently stated that the seat is now being controlled by an opposition party but this does not mean that BN could not recapture the seat again.
`We can take back the seat and bring the needed development for the area’, he added in the event attended by party members and the general public.
At the same time, he said PBS Sri Tanjong will conduct their Chinese New Year open house on February 1, 2009, schedule to be held at the Sin Onn community hall between 9.00 am until noon.

:Public asked to give full co-ops to police for benefit of all: Fung
TAWAU, The general public need to give their fullest co-operation in curbing crime instead of practicing the present attitude of paying no concern when any particular criminal cases does not involve them or their love ones.
`The best way to help the authorities in curbing criminal activities by becoming eyes and ears and pass information’, stated Fung Len Fui, the PKR of Sri Tanjong for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) when he visited district acting police chief Superintendent Haji Ramli Ali Mat at is hospital bed recently.
Fung who is also the chairman of PBS sri Tanjong cited that the recent case of the attack on Ramli at his home causing create concern on the general public over the incident.
He cited that the mentality of residents of not wanting to get involve when it comes to criminal activities should be discarded if they want to see the reduction of crime index in the district.
`It is sad that the general public always blame police when any crime took place but we as citizens plays a role in preventing crime by helping police’, he lamented.
Fung cited public can assist police in many ways such as setting up of security committee in their housing estate and this will ensure they themselves are protected due to their own action.

TAWAU, The relevant authorities should conduct their work at Eastern road with result presentable to the public as the road with length of some 4 kilometer now shows the shoddy work done.
Chinese Kapitan Chong Hon Vun who is also the deputy chairman of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjong PKR unit said a better working result is greatly needed as this would only mirror the capability of the authorities involve in the effort to conduct work for the general public.
Chong added that the road now shows much damages and work done at various times and places along the road had resulted in the road being uneven.
`The damages especially along the site of the road had resulted in many vehicles forcing to take the center length to move and this create is dangerous as many heavy vehicles are plying the same road’, he stated.
