TAWAU, The local authority is asked to made available all street lights at the vicinity of the district’s community centre when a function was held there to ensure that the area would be properly lighted for the benefit of residents going to the centre.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjong publicity chief Tong Yun Fah stated that the recent event held at the centre saw a number of street lights failing to light up and the general public was not satisfied with the situation.

`The local authority need to fulfill their obligation as the public rented the centre for the evening and all lights adjoining to the centre need to be switch on’, he stated after receiving a number of complains from the general public over the matter.

Tong added the scenario took place on the evening of November 22 when an association organized a show at the centre but a number of street lights surrounding the centre were not turn on.

He urges the situation should not repeat itself as those renting the centre deserve the streetlights being switch on as well.
