PBS offer to help motorists with traffic summons

TAWAU: Many motorists got the shock of their life when they ventured out of Bebas road off Mosque road and issued traffic ticket could now contact the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjung to have their ticket waived for the early offenders.

In a press statement made, the party’s division chairman for the area, Fung Len Fui said they had received a number of complains from the general public over the sudden change of the road into a one way street with motorist only able to venture into the road from Mosque road.

`We had contacted deputy district police chief over this matter and an agreement took place where those booked during the past two weeks will have their tickets waived’, he explained. Fung added that those getting such ticket could contact the party’s UPKR office at 3rd floor, Man Tung Sing building or contact 089-761291 as they will deliver the ticket to police for cancellation.

He also said that police would only began to issue traffic ticket to offenders on November 1 as it is generally agreed that the sudden change on the road status had brought many unsuspecting motorists to make the offence.

Fung led a group which also include the Chong Hon Kong@ Hon Vun paid a visit to Supt. Haji Ramli Ali Mat over the matter on October 15 where the agreement was made to give motorist a chance to familiarized themselves with the new ruling.

The matter was also brought to the attention of the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) traffic committee chairman who is also the Gerakan Division chief for Tawau, Liew Kiam Ming who also attended the meeting with Ramli.

Fung however advice motorists to adhere to the traffic signboard displayed on roads to avoid being summoned in the future.
