TAWAU: The district authority need to fulfill their obligations to the public as they (public) are rate payers as this would ensure that any speedy repair works would ensure that the people can rely on the authority in managing the district.

Chinese Community Leader of the district, Tong Yun Fah said that the numerous complains had been forwarded to him over the failure by the authority to replace damaged light bulbs and this should not have happened as rate payers deserve the services pledged by the authority.

He said among the problem faced was the inability by the authority to simply exchanging light bulbs of street lights especially in residential areas in the past months causing a number of `blackout’ at many areas which now could be seen in almost every residential areas.

`It is sad to see that broken light bulbs are never replaced as this matter should not reach the ears of community leaders because such damaged light bulbs should have been noticed by the local authority as it is happening almost everywhere’, he explain in a press statement yesterday.

Tong at the same time also stressed that not only damaged light bulbs hamper the safety of road users but also the public in general and there should be no compromise in term of serving the public.
