Free computer course for the general public

TAWAU: Public interested to learn about the usage of computer can do so at no cost as Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Sri Tanjong will be organizing such course free of charge and participation is open to Malaysian.

Making the statement, PBS Sri Tanjong JKKK chief Fung Len Fui said the program conducted under the Ministry of Resource and Development and IT is giving free courses to interested public where 14 courses are available for the public to chose from.

`I urge the public to take the opportunity to learn as the course is being paid by the Ministry under Dr. Yee Moh Chai and public just need to register and attend the course’, Fung said.

He added that learning to use computer is now considered essential as the world is now changing toward a progressive IT and Sabahan should not exclude themselves from such an opportunity. Fung explained that the course had began in 2006 and so far around 5,000 Malaysian in the district had taken part.

`There is always a need to know and getting well versed on the usage of computer and Malaysian should participate’, he cited.

The course is being conducted throughout the state at major towns and villages.

Fung also said the courses will take place in November and December this year but the time of course will depend on the number of participants as they would like to have a certain number of participants before beginning each course.

Interested public can go to the JKKK office at Dunlop street or contact Mr. Yong at 089-761291 to apply or make enquiries.

Participation is open to Malaysian age 18 and above with each participant can choose to learn four of the fourteen programs offered. Two choices are given to participant where they can opt for day time course for every course between 8.00am to 5.00pm with free lunch and tea break provided. The other choice is to have an evening for two evenings learning two courses between 6.00pm to 9.45pm with tea break provided free.

The venue for the course will be at the Hing Hwa Primary School’s computer room.

`Each participant will also receive a book on the course they take and certificate will be given as well to those who completed the course’, he added.
